KT&G open work recruitment for ‘The 6th Sangsang Stage Challenge’ 2023.01.10
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) is publicly selecting works to engage in the ‘6th Sangsang Stage Challenge’, a domestic creative musical support program, by the 10th of next month.

The ‘Sangsang Stage Challenge’, which hits its 6th anniversary this year, is a cultural donation program, presented to the public that KT&G has been operating since 2017 to explore and help guide creative musicals in South Korea. Five works in total have been shown to the public thus far, as well as “Mary Shelley,” which pulled in the largest number of crowds.

The topic of this contest is a domestic creative musical that can be played in September or October, and can help a large field of works, from primary works that are first released on stage, to re-performance works that are freshly suitable, from the initial work. On the other hand, it must be a piece which may be performed for more than 4 weeks without violating the performance trademark.

To enter the contest, download the application form from the KT&G Sangsangmadang website and turn it in by e-mail with the necessary documents. The last election will be declared on March 6 after the first document screening and the second interview screening. A total of 60 million won worth of perks, including performance production costs of 10 million won and ‘KT&G Sangsang Madang Daechi Art Hall’ performance hall and stage equipment are given.

An official from KT&G said, “KT&G has given original and creative musical works to the public through the ‘Sangsang Stage Challenge’” and continued, “We are going to continue to supply and use the framework of ‘Sangsang Madang’ to help producers to maintain performances and reinforce domestic performance culture. Our contribution will go on.”

For the time being, KT&G Sangsangmadang has backed the creative activities of rising artists and offered a wide range of cultural experiences to the public. Beginning with ‘Sangsang Madang Hongdae’ in 2007, Sangsang Madang was introduced in Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan one after another. Presently, it has developed into a cultural hotspot with 1.8 million yearly visitors and 3,000 cultural and artistic programs.
