KT&G (CEO Bok-in Baek) successfully held the ‘5th Sangsang Summit’, an experienced forum to revitalize the social venture ecosystem, at ‘KT&G Sangsang Planet’ in Seongdong-gu, Seoul on the 22nd.

At this ‘Sangsang Summit’, experts from numerous fields such as academia and the venture investment industry as well as young entrepreneurs spoke as speakers, and about 70 people attended, including young people dreaming of social innovation entrepreneurs.

The forum was planned as a place to exchange ways to resolve social problems through alliance concentrating on the power of connection in the fast-changing endemic era. This event took place in two sessions, ‘Impact and Growth’ and ‘Change and Connection’ under the topic of ‘Connection of various social innovations’. Lectures and discussions continued on topics such as ‘Efforts of Subjects’, ‘Impact Investments in the Phase of Economic Recession’, and ‘Laws for Changing Market Rules’.

KT&G has presented the ‘Sangsang Summit’ each year since 2018 to find solutions to current problems directed at our society from the viewpoint of social innovation.  Beginning with the discussion on today’s state of the social innovation ecosystem as well as support plans in the first session, a forum for communication has been planned on the topics of numerous aspects of innovation, regionally-based social innovation, and generation-based social innovation made by the future generations.

Furthermore, KT&G strives to engage in the ‘Sangsang Startup Camp’ to discover socially innovative entrepreneurs based on the ‘KT&G Sangsang Planet’, a space committed to youth startups. KT&G received the 2019 Ministry of Employment and Labor Minister’s Award for ‘Social Enterprise Fostering Merit’ for those efforts, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s ‘Social Economy Merit’ Presidential Award in 2021, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Job Creation Merit’ Presidential Citation this year.

“This Sangsang Summit was a meaningful space in order to reflect on the aim of close collaboration through connection in the current fast changing trend.”, an official from KT&G stated. “We are going to continue holding this forum, so that more people may become interested in the social venture ecosystem,” he said.
