The 'Year-End Kimchi Sharing Event' was held by KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) to help the less fortunate have a warm winter.

On November 22, KT&G the 'Year-End Kimchi Sharing Event' was held in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, where the 'KT&G Sangsang Planet', a space devoted to youth entrepreneurship, is located. The event included a kimchi-making service and delivery ceremony. Participants included KT&G Sustainability Management Division Lee Sang-hak and Seongdong-gu District Head Jeong Weon-oh, in addition to KT&G employees and KT&G Sangsang Planet employees.

On this day, approximately 700 heads (2,200 kg) of kimchi made by volunteers will be distributed to 300 households, including low-income senior households in Seongdong-gu where it is difficult to prepare kimchi alone.

Beginning with this distribution, KT&G intends to continue its efforts to support the vulnerable during the winter by distributing approximately 40 tons of kimchi each to local institutions. In addition, the company intends to conduct continuous sharing this winter, including support for winter goods and living expenses, as well as activities to improve housing and facilities.

An official of KT&G said, “In preparation for the upcoming winter season, we decided to deliver kimchi to the underprivileged in order to promote a culture of generosity.” He added, “We will continue to provide warmth to all segments of the community and actively support efforts to create a more hospitable society.”

In 2020, KT&G opened KT&G Sangsang Planet in Social Venture Valley in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, and assumed the initiative to revitalize the youth startup ecosystem in order to foster future generations. KT&G Sangsang Planet has established itself as a prominent youth startup hub in Seoul by implementing numerous programs for the development of aspiring entrepreneurs and fostering the establishment of a solid foundation.
