2022.09.01
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) will hold the 5th “Over the Rainbow” creative exhibition of differently abled artists, at KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae Gallery from the 3rd to the 20th.
The exhibition, which marks its fifth anniversary this year, is an exhibition to support artists with disabilities co-hosted by KT&G Sangsang Madang and KT&G Welfare Foundation to realize art welfare and expand creative support areas. The exhibition name "Over the Rainbow" stands for a new perspective across the coexistence of diversity, hope, and art.
The 5th “Over the Rainbow" exhibition will feature more than 130 pieces containing the 12 selected artists’ diverse perspectives of the world. Prior to this exhibition, 12 participating artists completed their work under the theme of "The Smallest Movements that Will Change Us" through mentoring programs by artists working in various visual arts fields, which was dampened by the COVID-19 pandemic
After the Seoul exhibition, tour exhibitions will continue at KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan from September 24 to October 10, and KT&G Sangsang Madang Chuncheon from October 14 to October 30. Admission is free, and detailed information on the special exhibition can be found on the KT&G Sangsang Madang website.
In particular, the exhibition will be held in the form of "Barrier Free," which will mark Braille on all printed materials and provide sign language and subtitles on video materials, providing a space for both the disabled and non-disabled to enjoy art together freely.
An official from KT&G said, "We hope that the 'Over the Rainbow' exhibition will help artists overcome prejudice against disabilities and be recognized as artists and communicate with the world," adding, "We plan to continue supporting differently abled artists in order for them to become independent."
