KT&G Sangsangmadang Busan will hold a nationwide public contest for ‘2022 Korea Cosmetics Challenge‘ in order to support young people's start-ups in the beauty field.

The public contest was designed to expand the cultural and artistic reinforcement areas of Sangsangmadang and strengthen its capacity to support start-ups. The theme is eco-friendly beauty brands and products, such as skin, hair, and body care products.

Applications for the participation will be accepted until April 24, 2022 at the e-mail address provided on the KT&G Sangsangmadang website. Applications can be made by individual participants who dream of starting a beauty business or by teams of less than five people. KT&G is planning to announce the final two best teams in May after a fair screening process, including a document screening, a workshop evaluation, and a mentoring camp.

KT&G Sangsangmadang Busan is planning to support the overall product production process of the award-winning team in collaboration with Cosmocos, a professional cosmetics company known for its brands, such as ‘Man With Flowers,‘ ‘Danahan,‘ and ‘Vprove.‘ Benefits such as brand launching costs worth 25 million won per team and mentoring education will be provided, and it is planned to help that brand with becoming independent by supporting the promotional and marketing platforms.

The head of KT&G's social contribution office, Shim Young-ah, stated, "the Korea Cosmetics Challenge that debuted last year gained a lot of attention from young people who dream of a start in the beauty field, recording a competition rate of 42 to 1 in the end," and added, "through this contest, we hope that the ideas of young entrepreneurs who care about the environment will become an opportunity to bring a positive change to our society."

Furthermore, Sangsangmadang Busan is the fifth complex cultural space that KT&G introduced in September after Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, and Daechi last year in order to support the creative activities of emerging artists and to provide a wide range of cultural experiences for the public. It represents the largest scale among Sangsangmadang in the country, and one may enjoy various cultural activities, such as performances, exhibitions, cafes, shopping, and lodging all at once.
