457 KT&G Social Welfare Foundation donates 650 million won in heating expenses to people 2021.12.01
KT&G Social Welfare Foundation is providing a total of 650 million won in heating costs to more than 3,300 households with insufficient heating, who reside in Seoul and the metropolis area.

KT&G Social Welfare Foundation has been providing heating fuel such as kerosene, coal briquettes, as well as subsidy for city gas every year to low-income families who do not have adequate heating amid the winter cold. The project for the underprivileged started in 2005 and has been running for 17 years. The amount of aid so far has reached about 10.6 billion won.

Beneficiaries will be able to use the subsidy up to the limit of 200,000 won per household by March next year. To this end, KT&G Social Welfare Foundation paid necessary expenses in advance through pre-contracts with fuel vendors such as gas stations and city gas companies. Moreover, a KT&G employee volunteer group carried out briquette sharing on November 29 and 30 for families with poor heating facilities, who need to stockpile briquettes.

An official at the foundation said, "I wish that neighbors who are suffering from the prolonged pandemic can spend the winter with a little warmth with this heating cost support. We will continuously make efforts to improve the quality of life as well as the energy welfare of the underprivileged through various sharing activities in the future.”

KT&G Social Welfare Foundation is a foundation established by KT&G in 2003 to engage the local community and fulfill corporate social responsibilities. It provides community-based welfare services through eight welfare centers across the country. KT&G is also actively contributing to the resolution of social problems by sharing with low-income families and others in need, and with social centers and local communities.
