KT&G, provides scholarship to the children of low-income patriots and veterans in com 2021.06.24
KT&G (Bok In Baek, CEO) offered 30 million Won to be used as scholarship for the children of Korea Disabled Veterans Organization, a relevant organization of Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on the 23rd in commemoration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans, in June.

KT&G decided to provide this support to assist with the education of the children of patriot and veteran’s home having economic difficulties due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and to commemorate the services provided by patriots and veterans who sacrificed and dedicated their lives for the country. Scholarship valued at 1 million Won will be awarded to 30 children of low-income patriots and veterans.

The ceremony of the scholarship fund was held at the Korea Disabled Veterans Organization located in Yeouido, Seoul in the presence of numerous interested parties including Yeong A Shim, the manager of Social Contribution Office of KT&G, Yoon Jin Kang, Director of Welfare Enhancement Department of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and Eul Sang Yoo, Chairman of Korea Disabled Veterans Organization, etc.

An interested party of KT&G disclosed that, “We sincerely hope that the children of patriots and veterans who sacrificed themselves for the country will become the future leaders of Korea by continuing their education without losing courage,” and that, “We will continue to put efforts to continue with our scholarship projects in more diversified areas in the future.”

The entire scholarship fund was raised as ‘Imagination fund’ through voluntary contribution by the staffs and executives of KT&G. ‘Imagination fund’ is a unique social contribution fund of KT&G launched in 2011. It is being raised in the format of ‘Matching Grant’ in which the company will add the amount equivalent to the fund raised by staffs and executives who voluntarily donates a prescribed portion of their monthly wages. This fund is used to provide support for alienated social classes and to resolve urgent social issues at home and abroad with annual operating budget of approximately 4 billion Won.
