Until June 20th, KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan is holding a nationwide public contest for the ‘2021 Sangsang Madang Coco Challenge (Korea Cosmetic Challenge)’, which supports young entrepreneurs starting businesses in the beauty field.
This contest was designed to strengthen the support for young entrepreneurs and expand the support for the culture and art of Sangsang Madang. The theme of the contest is “eco-friendly beauty brands and their products”. The product categories for recruitment are toner, cleanser, and hair products, as well as body lotions, etc.
Registration is open from May 31 to June 20, and you can submit an application form at the KT&G Sangsang Madang website (https://www.sangsangmadang.com). Anyone in their 20s and 30s who wishes to start a beauty business can participate in the contest as an individual or as part of a team of 5 or fewer people. After the document screening, a workshop evaluation and mentoring camp will be held to select the two final teams, which will then be announced on July 14th.
KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan plans to collaborate with Cosmocos, a cosmetics company known for its brands, such as 'Man with Flowers', 'Danahan', and 'VPROVE', to support the overall product manufacturing process of those two final teams. The selected team can also receive benefits, such as KRW 50 million toward the fee support for launching the brand and mentoring training for product development. After launching the brand, they will also be provided with online and offline public relations assistance and a marketing platform to help vitalize the brand activities.
Shim Yeong Ah, the head of KT&G’s CSR Team, said, “We planned this contest to provide a diverse opportunity to young people who dream of starting their own business.” She then added, “In particular, as the contest theme is eco-friendly, I hope that the ideas of young entrepreneurs will become an opportunity to bring about positive influences in society.”
Meanwhile, Sangsang Madang Busan is the fifth complex cultural space established by KT&G within the country after ones in Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, and Daechi. It has 13 floors above ground and 5 floors underground, making it the largest operating Sangsang Madang. It is operated under three concepts: PLAY‧CO-WORK‧REFRESH. In addition, there are spaces where you can enjoy new designs, performances, and exhibitions, as well as a creator creation center and space to support the start-ups of young entrepreneurs. Accommodation facilities are also provided so that visitors can relax after enjoying the event.
