KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan and the Design Council Busan Sign the “MOU for the Develop

KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Development of the Design Industry with Design Council Busan (DCB) on the 14th of this month.
Under the MOU, the two organizations will cooperatively work toward supporting artists, increasing jobs, creating cultural infrastructure, and pursuing city regeneration programs. In particular, they will build a mutual cooperation structure for invigorating culture and art and increasing jobs.
KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan plans to support local artists’ creative work and help them pioneer through the market. Also, they will cooperate with DCB to operate a development program that helps prospective artists grow into professional artists and thrive in the design industry.
Moreover, the two organizations are planning to build a cooperative agenda for public design and city regeneration programs to contribute to creating more jobs in the design industry, as well as to invigorate the local economy.
Shim Yeong Ah, head of KT&G’s CSR Team, said that she is, “anticipating the MOU to help not only the development of the Busan design industry, but also the local culture, art, and economy.” She added, “Sangsang Madang Busan will continue with various support programs that facilitate collaborative growth with local community.”
Sangsang Madang Busan is the fifth cultural complex that KT&G built in Korea, following Hongdae, Nonsan, Chuncheon, and Daechi. It is the largest among all of the Sangsang Madang complexes, with thirteen floors above ground and five below, and a total ground area of about 20,000㎡. It operates on three concepts, PLAY, CO-WORK, and REFRESH. It comprises cultural facilities for movies, design, performances, and galleries, as well as a single-person creator center and a space for youth startups. It also operates a lodging space where visitors can enjoy culture and rest.
