KT&G Sangsang Madang Donates Quarantine Items for Vulnerable Groups in Communities 2020.12.30
KT&G Sangsang Madang has donated 60,000 masks and about 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to Nonsan, Chuncheon, and Busan to help protect socially vulnerable groups against COVID-19 infections.

First, “Sangsang Madang Nonsan” delivered about 20,000 masks and bottles of hand sanitizer to the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea on December 18th. On the 22nd, “Sangsang Madang Chuncheon” and “Sangsang Madang Busan” donated quarantine items to the Gangwon Fire Headquarters and Busan Community Chest of Korea, respectively.

Through “Sangsang Madang”, KT&G is providing opportunities for culturally marginalized regional creators of culture and art to create and communicate, and for local residents to gain various cultural experiences. This year, the promotion of cultural and art events and experiences has been hampered by the COVID-19 outbreak, and thus they have been replaced with activities for sharing items with vulnerable groups in communities.

Kim Gyeong-Dong, head of the KT&G social contribution team, said, “We have delivered quarantine items to assist vulnerable groups around us, even in a small way, in an effort to help overcome the COVID-19 crisis. KT&G will continue to facilitate cultural and art ecosystems and support nonmainstream cultures, and at the same time, fulfill our social responsibilities.”

KT&G Sangsang Madang is a complex cultural space that supports the creative activities of rising artists and provides a wide range of cultural experiences to the public. It operates approximately 3,000 cultural and art programs that attract up to 1.8 million visitors annually. Since its first Sangsang Madang location near the Hongdae region in 2007, KT&G has established locations in succession in Nonsan, Chuncheon, and Daechi. Last September, the company also opened “Sangsang Madang Busan” in Seomyeon, Busan.
