KT&G Social Welfare Foundation Provides 200 Light Vehicles to Social Welfare Institut
2020.10.23
The KT&G Social Welfare Foundation held the "2020 Vehicle Delivery Ceremony for the Vehicle Support Project for Social Welfare Institutions" at the Youth Rest Center in Jeju City on October 22 to provide 200 light vehicles to social welfare institutions across the country.
The KT&G Foundation has delivered 100 light vehicles to social welfare institutions every year since 2004, reflecting the opinion of front-line social workers that they need the light cars that can operate in narrow alleyways typically found in the areas needing welfare services.
In particular, this year, more social welfare institutions across the country will be able to benefit from the delivery of 200 units. The amount of cars was doubled this year in consideration of the difficulties caused by COVID-19. To date, the accumulated number of vehicles donated by the foundation is 1,800. Following the reach to Baekryeong Island in the northern most part of the country in 2012, the foundation this year is to provide light vehicles to Jejudo and Ulleungdo Island.
More than 1,100 social welfare institutions nationwide, including general social welfare center, welfare center for the disabled, welfare center for the elderly and local children's center, applied for the vehicle support contest held in June. In response, the foundation finally selected 200 institutions that were deemed to need support the most after fair review.
"This year, we have doubled the number of vehicle support for welfare institutions and underprivileged neighbors suffering from the COVID-19 crisis," said an official at the KT&G Foundation. "We will continue to provide support to various communities to make a warm society."
The KT&G Social Welfare Foundation was established in 2003 by KT&G to communicate with the local communities and actively carry out corporate social responsibilities. The foundation provides local-friendly welfare services through its eight social welfare centers nationwide. It practices sharing with needy neighbors and communities, including low-income underprivileged people and social welfare facilities, and actively participates in solving social problems. (End)
