The KT&G Scholarship Foundation recruits “the second cohort of scholarship students from children of small business owners” to support small business owners who are suffering from the effects of the COVID-19 crisis in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. 

This recruitment is this year’s second scholarship project targeted at children of small business owners, following the recruitment of scholarship students in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do in May of this year. In response to ongoing damage to the country’s regional economies due to prolonged social distancing, the program’s potential beneficiaries were expanded to small business owners in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.

Eligible candidates include middle and high school students from the families of small business owners who reside in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and are placed in the bottom 70% median income group. Around 80 students will be selected, and a scholarship of 1 million won will be delivered to each of the students. Candidates can submit their applications on the KT&G Scholarship Foundation website (https://scholarship.ktngtogether.com/) until October 30. After the applications are closed, final recipients will be selected through a fair review process and selected applicants will be announced on November 13.  

The KT&G Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 2008 to practice the company’s business philosophy of a company that upholds “togetherness”. The foundation has steadily conducted scholarship projects that support outstanding students so as to prevent them from giving up on their studies because of social and economic reasons. To date, about 5,300 students have benefited from these projects with a cumulative support fund of 33.1 billion won.
