KT&G’s CEO Baek Bok-in, is organizing a “Imagination Realization Committee” composed of millennials to understand the values of the 2030 young generation and reflect them in management activities.
The Imagination Realization Committee was created by President Baek Bok-in in 2015 when he took office as the president to carry out the management philosophy of “Communication.” The organization operates in a bottom-to-top communication style that gathers feedback on what employees want and makes suggestions and improvements directly to the CEO. It discovers and proposes new ideas in various fields, including agenda for revitalizing work-life-balance, building corporate culture, process innovation, and improving profit structure.
A typical example of the imagination realization committee's idea is the life cycle family care program, “Gahwa Mansasung”. It was highly received by members by operating a family-friendly welfare system for each step from the celebration of the entrance of the employees' children to the reminder wedding for their parents.
The fifth Imagination Realization Committee, which was launched in March of this year, consisted of ten young employees selected from various fields such as headquarters, sales and manufacturing. In July, they surveyed the differences in perceptions among employees and presented ideas for promoting communication. Through this, they won sympathy by suggesting ways to resolve generational conflicts that may occur in company life and direction of leadership change.
On the 19th Dec., it met with CEO Baek Bok-in to report business ideas, work efficiency, social responsibility activities, and organizational culture innovation in line with the latest trends. President Baek Bok-in asked them to review their proposals with the working department.
KT&G President Baek Bok-in said, “Building a horizontal organizational culture by activating internal communication is the source of corporate competitiveness.” "We will strengthen intergenerational and inter-class communication so that all members can look forward to the future and strive for the company's development."
