584 KT&G Provides Start-up Support for Young People 2016.05.26

▶KT&G executives and staffs donated KRW 500 million to Korea Juvenile Protection Association for start-up support of at-risk youth and their stable society settlement. The donation funded by ‘Sangsang Fund’, a CSR fund raised by voluntary donation of KT&G executives and staffs. KT&G executives and staffs donated KRW 500 million to Korea Juvenile Protection Association for start-up support of at-risk youths and their stable society settlement.


The donation was funded by ‘Sangsang Fund’, a CSR (corporate social responsibility) fund raised by voluntary donation of KT&G executives and staffs, will be used to support start-ups of the youths who finished business incubation education at Korea Juvenile Protection Association.


KT&G will continually provide support including mentoring in cooperation with the Association so the youths may stabilize their business. A virtuous circle donation model is expected to be created by donating the profit of successfully established business to new start-ups.


Korea Juvenile Protection Association, an affiliated organization of Crime Prevention Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, operates independent living house and supports at-risk youth’s social settlement via business incubation education.


KT&G Sangsang Fund, established in 2011, is a unique CSR fund raised by employees’ voluntary monthly donation and the Company with matching fund scheme which donates the same amount prepared by its employees. The fund size amounts to KRW 350 million per annum.


Taewon Kim, chief operating officer of KT&G Sangsang Fund, said, “Social prejudice keeps at-risk youth out of employment. I hope the donation will help the youth successfully settle in society and it will also contribute to solving youth unemployment problem.”
