KT&G(CEO: Mr. Min Young-jin) will be awarded with the “prize of the Ministrer of Trade, Industry, and Energy”, recognized with its contribution of saving energy in the ‘36th Energy Saving Promotion Contest’ held in the Federation of Korean Industries Center in Yeouido, Seoul on November 19th.

 KT&G, collaborating in the government’s energy saving polcies, has participated in stablization of national power supply with reducing addtionally by 24% compared to mandatory reduction including peak time work adjustment.
 
KT&G has recycled surplus steam from nearby factories, saving energy equivalent to over 500 million won per year. Using ESCO, the company also introduced a new technology, raising energy consumption efficency. From  this year, through energy diagnosis on four factories all over the country, the company has practiced the ‘Energy using efficiency project’ with 38 tasks. Sintanjin factory, the biggest super-slim cigarette manufacturer installed ‘Green Management Departmen’ for energy and environment, recently.
 
KT&G has held various event to make the entire company save energy. Last year, in the ‘Saving energy idead competition’ inside the company, total 241 ideas were submitted, relfecting the staffs’ higher concens and last summer, through ‘Cool Biz Were Contest’, the company encouraged to invigorate to dress shorts
