KT&G (CEO: Mr. Min Young-jin) will hold the ‘Wonderful Short Film Festival’ which presents remarkable short films in KT&G Sangsang Madang in Seokyo-dong, Seoul for a week starting from upcoming 18th.
The 8th ‘Wonderful Short Film Festival’ this year is to discover and introduce excellent short films in the genre with less than 20 minutes’ running time. ‘Cheongi’ directed by Kim Jung-in and ‘Guest’ directed by Yun Ga-eun, both were awarded in the previous festivals won Audi Short Film Award from the Berlin International Film Award and Grand Prix from the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, respectively, becoming topics.
In this year’s festival, total 529 short films were admitted and 25 were included in the final selections. For jurors of the final selections, four people including director Byon Young-ju and actress Lee Jung-hyeon were invited. The excellent films will be awarded with KT&G Gold Crown Award and Silver Crown Award, respectively. In addition, the Wonderful Director, Actor/ Actrice, and Audience will be also selected.
In special screening: director session, works of director Kim Tae-yong, who was the youngest among directors invited to Cannes when his short film, ‘Frozen Land’ was invited for Cinéfondation in the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival, will be reviewed. There will be also special screening: actor session to introduce new actors who conduct both directing and acting freely.
A person concerned in KT&G said “shot films abundant in topics and formats have very pithy remarks” and “the festival will offer good chances to film creators who produced great works but could not have opportunities to meet audience”.
