KT&G(CEO: Mr. Min Young-jin) published the ‘2012/13 Sustainable Seed for the Society’ in order to show its will and achievement about sustainable business transparently to various parties.
KT&G included its diverse activities for sustainable developments including ‘management to satisfy customers’ through systematic brand management and thorough quality control, ‘win-win management’ via co-growth with suppliers, ‘sharing management’ for supporting the poor and culture and art, and ‘eco-business’ through eco-friendly R&D and saving energy.
In particular, the report contains kind descriptions on KT&G’s distinguished efforts to strive for social responsibilities such as development of ‘blue band’, the technology for making a low-ignition propensity cigarette, domestication of ‘aromatic capsule’ through collaboration with venture enterprises, and ‘donation request’ that the managing staffs nominate and select the beneficiaries.
Mr. Min Young-jin, the CEO of KT&G acknowledged in its address of publication, “Publishing this report has significance to show our sustainable business and management results, to realize co-existence with all the parties such as customers, stockholders, members, local societies, and subsidiaries and affiliates, and to reveal our various attempts to be a company to help our society.”
Since its first publication of the report for the sustainable seed for the society in 2008, KT&G published total four reports every other year. GRI(Global Reporting Initiative), the international certifying organization for the sustainable business and management gave the company the best class A+ in succession.
KT&G has been included in DJSI(Dow Jones Sustainability Index) World, the index for evaluating corporation social responsible business and management for successive 4 years since 2010, being recognized internationally for its achievement in sustainability and joined to UN Global Compact, an international organization for social ethics and international environment improvement, continuing to show its volunteer will for sustainable business and management.
