KT&G’s business performance increased dramatically as the CEO, Mr. Min Young-jin’s ‘Principle of Business with long and distant view” achieved a fruitful success.

KT&G reported, as a result of summing provisional performance in January, this year, the total sales and operating income were 383.6 billion and 121.7 billion won, increasing 27.2% and 31.7%, respectively, compared to last year.

KT&G, itself achieved sales of 224.3 billion and operating income 88.4 billion won, increasing 20.5% and 17.6%, respectively. Especially, share of the domestic cigarette market achieved 64.5%, 4.9% higher than last month, leading to raise the performance. The cigarette exportation was also increased 150% compared to last year, because of pioneering actively new markets.

 Its subsidiary, KGC also achieved sales of 110.9 billion won and operating income of 28.6 billion won, because of the top quality and distinctive marketing in spite of economic slum both domestically and internationally, increasing 48.1% and 73.4%, respectively, compared to last year’s January. Somang Cosmetic and KGC Life and Jin, specializing in cosmetics improved their operating profit and loss 2.7 billion and 600 million won, respectively.

 KT&G’s achievement in its business performance seems to be fruit of Our CEO, Mr. Min Young-jin’s continuous management in principle in spite of hardships such as tax audit by National Tax Service last year.

KT&G’s market capitalization was 8.8 trillion won in the end of 2009, before Mr. Min Young-jin was appointed as the CEO. Since he took his post, it is 10.4 trillion won as of the end of January this year, as the company’s middle-and-long-term strategies have resulted in fruits with raising the domestic market share. Among all the domestic listed companies, those with one trillion’s market capitalization are just 20 including KT&G for now.
