KT&G(CEO: Bok-in Baek)’s plant in Kwangju City was awarded the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy (MTIE) prize of ‘2015 Excellent Improvement Award Ceremony based on Energy Diagnosis’.
KT&G Kwangju plant saved approximately 7% energy consumption by changing the air dryer function of air compressors. The factory saved 116,852 TOE equivalent of KRW 120 million on an annual basis. KT&G was also awarded the Minister of MTIE prize of ‘Energy Saving Promotion Campaign’ in 2014.
Yong-deok Kim, the plant manager of Kwangju said “the plant achieved two goals by saving energy and enhancing energy efficiency; increasing KT&G’s competitiveness and fulfilling social responsibilities via doing eco-friendly business. Kwangju plant will continuously meet the expectations as an enterprise citizen by running eco-friendly plant.”
KT&G has participated in nationwide power supply and demand stabilization campaign during peak hours via manufacture adjustment and promoted ‘energy efficiency enhancement campaign’ based on the energy diagnosis on four plants in Korea. KT&G’s energy saving efforts include KRW 500,000,000 equivalent energy saving of Youngju plant by recycling extra steam of adjacent factories and ‘green business division’ activity focused on energy and environment organization of Shintanjin Factory.
