For the upcoming winter season,
KT&G is to conduct the “2013 KT&G Sangsang Fund Love-Sharing” service
activities until the end of December, through which winter goods worth a total
of ₩900 million will be delivered to
more than 9,000 low-income families across the nation.
Approximately 3,400 KT&G officers and employees and
undergraduate volunteers are to participate in this service activity to deliver
various kinds of winter goods such as briquettes, comforters, and heating oil
to each household. KT&G has been carrying out these activities to support
needy neighbors at the year’s end with winter goods for 10 years since 2004.
All required expenses for purchasing goods are covered by
the Sangsang Fund created through the voluntary donations of KT&G officers
and employees. The fund was created in 2011 with the donations of officers and
employees, plus the same matching amount from the company; currently, the rate
of participation by officers and employees runs at 99%, and the operational
budget scale for this year amounts to approximately ₩3 billion.
KT&G Social Contribution Department
Manager Lee Eung-chul said, “It seems
that staff members feel all the more rewarded, and their sharing becomes all
the more meaningful, through the process of directly delivering the winter
goods bought with their voluntary donations with beads of sweat on their
foreheads,” adding that “we
hope these winter goods will help the needy neighbors around us get through
this winter more warmly and comfortably.”
