KT&G (CEO Bok-in Baek) Sangsang Madang Hongdae to hold ‘Dul-lak Dal-lak’ April 14 -17 to commemorate its renewal on its 10th anniversary.
KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae building has seven floors and four basement floors to operate a variety of culture & art program including movie, performance exhibition and education. The building just finished its two-month renovation to expand space for performance and exhibition and improve interior outfit and amenities to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
Movie theater on the 4th basement floor and live hall on the 3rd basement floor is fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting instruments for optimal performance. Design square and exhibition gallery to introduce new Korean designers and facilitate distribution and sales of products have been doubled. Culture & art education academy moved to the 6th and 7th floors for quiet environment.
Various events to celebrate the opening are prepared. The event was named ‘Dul-lak Dal-lak’ which means enjoyment for everyone coming in.
The gallery holds the first private exhibition ‘La Belle France’ of Jacques Henri Lartigue, a French photographer between April 14 and August 15. During the first three days from April 14, discounted tickets are available to commemorate its re-opening. Live hall will hold its 10th anniversary concert vol. 1 ‘Thornapple X Raw by Peppers’ at 6pm, April 15.
Since its opening in 2007, KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae has provided opportunities for creation for artists and cultural experience for audience. Sangsang Madang Nonsan in South Chungcheong Province and Sangsang Madang Chuncheon in Kangwon Province also have expanded culture and art infrastructure to local society. KT&G is currently reviewing building the fourth Sangsang Madang to provide culture and art experience space for more people living in local cities.
The number of annual visitors amounts to 1.8 million and about 3,000 culture and art programs are provided every year. The total number of artists involved are over 24,000. In recognition of efforts of Sangsang Madang, KT&G was certified as ‘Excellent Culture and Art support organization’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2016.
