On April 30, KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) participated in the “23rd Ethical Management CEO Pledge Ceremony,” held at the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, reaffirming its commitment to ethical management practices. The Ethical Management CEO Pledge Ceremony is one of Korea’s leading campaigns promoting ethical management, jointly organized by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies (IPS) and Seoul School of Integrated Sciences & Technologies (aSSIST), with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, among others. In January of this year, KT&G elevated its Compliance Management Center to the Compliance Management Division as part of efforts to strengthen company-wide ethical management practices. The company has also continued to promote initiatives to embed ethical management into its corporate culture, including designating June 2 as “KT&G Corporate Ethics Day” and annually delivering management messages to employees emphasizing the importance of ethical awareness. KT&G has also established institutional systems to ensure the practical implementation of ethical management practices. The company operates a reporting channel for unethical conduct and has introduced an 11-language reporting system in line with the expansion of its global business operations. KT&G also conducts ethics awareness and compliance inspections on a regular basis and shares corporate ethics training materials with employees. The company has incorporated “Compliance and Ethics Management” into its key performance indicators (KPIs), establishing a framework to embed ethical standards throughout its management activities. A KT&G representative stated, “The company recognizes the importance of ethics and compliance by elevating the department overseeing ethical management to division level and is making efforts to embed these values into its corporate culture. Through ethical management practices aligned with global standards, we will continue to enhance stakeholder trust.” Meanwhile, KGC, a subsidiary of KT&G, received the Grand Prize at the event in recognition of its achievements in ethical management activities. KT&G itself was previously selected as an Outstanding Organization for Ethical Management Practices in 2024 based on its company-wide efforts to strengthen ethical management.
