For the upcoming winter season, KT&G (CEO Bok-in Baek) is to conduct “2018 KT&G Sangsang Fund Love-Sharing” service activities until the end of December, through which winter goods worth a total of 500 million won will be delivered to low-income households across the nation together with 14 organizations.

KT&G executives and employees together with residents have participated in this service activity to deliver various kinds of winter goods such as coal briquettes, comforters, and kimchi to each household. KT&G has been carrying out these activities to support needy neighbors at the year’s end with winter goods years since 2004 and the total amounts to 7 billion won.

All required expenses for purchasing goods have been covered by the SangSang Fund created through the voluntary donations of KT&G officers and employees. The fund was created in 2011 with the donations of employees, plus the same matching amount from the company.

KT&G had kimchi sharing activity at KT&G Cheonan factory site on November 7. A total of approximately 300 people made of KT&G employees, Chenoa city hall officers and volunteers from 15 social welfare organizations including Cheonan City Volunteer Center have participated in this activity.

Employees of KT&G factories located at Shintanjin in Daejeon, Youngju and Gimcheon in Gyeongsangbuk Province have also followed this winter goods sharing activity together with local social welfare organizations. In addition, 9 headquarters departments will deliver winter goods in Seoul, Jeju, Gyeongsangnam Province and Gangwon Province.

Jinhan Kim, head KT&G’s Social Contribution Office, “The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts this year’s winter will be colder than the seasonal average. We hope these winter goods will help the needy neighbors around us withstand this winter more warmly and comfortably.”
