Artistart is a leading artist support program that
KT&G SangSang Madang Busan has been running since 2021 to discover and
nurture promising local emerging artists. The name Artistart combines art,
artist, and start, symbolizing the program’s goal of supporting
graduates of local art universities as they take their first steps in the art
world.
This year’s exhibition was held at the KT&G
SangSang Madang Busan Gallery from January 17 to February 16. Visitors had the
opportunity to view over 100 works from aspiring artists nearing graduation.
KT&G SangSang Madang selects eight outstanding
artists through expert evaluations, offering them a cash prize and the chance
to participate in a tour at the KT&G SangSang Madang Daechi Gallery. Also,
some of the displayed works will be sponsored for exhibition at the Ulsan
International Art Fair and the Busan Illustration Fair, helping these emerging
artists gain awareness in the broader art scene.
KT& G Exhibition Director Kim Jeong-yun stated, “We
hope Artistart offers a meaningful opportunity for local art university
graduates aspiring to become artists to connect with the public. We will
continue contributing to the cultural and artistic community’s growth by
offering practical support for budding artists.”
KT&G SangSang Madang serves as a multifaceted
cultural and artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists
while offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since the launch of
its first location in Hongdae in 2007, the platform has expanded to five
locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the
development of regional culture and the broadening of cultural and artistic
engagement. KT&G SangSang Madang attracts around 3 million visitors
annually and hosts over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
