KT&G (CEO Kyung-man Bang) and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (Minister Lee Sang-min) signed a promotional agreement on the 26th at the KT&G Seoul headquarters to effectively discover and support households facing social and economic difficulties.
The signing ceremony, attended by Kim Seung-taek, KT&G's Head of Sustainable Management, and Koo Bon-geun, Head of the Smart Welfare and Safety Community Promotion Team at the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, included the signing of a cooperation plan for 'Discovery and Support of Crisis-Affected Households,' which involves promotional activities for discovering crisis-affected households and providing support in response to crises.
Under this agreement, starting from October, KT&G will mark approximately 40 million cigarette packs of brands like Bohem and Raison with the phrase "In times of difficulty, please call ☎129 or visit your local township office or community center," and distribute them to over 100,000 sales points nationwide.
The 'Discovery and Support of Crisis-Affected Households' program conducted by the Smart Welfare and Safety Community Promotion Team at the Ministry of Public Administration and Security is a policy that aims to detect households struggling economically, socially, and psychologically early, and provide them with the necessary welfare services to help them overcome crises and maintain stable lives.
Kim Seung-taek, Head of KT&G's Sustainable Management, stated, "We joined this initiative believing that even a small message can greatly help those in welfare blind spots," and added, "KT&G will continue to actively participate in solving community problems and strengthening the social safety net in cooperation with the government, fulfilling our social responsibilities."
Meanwhile, KT&G has been carrying out various social contribution activities to practice its management philosophy of 'Growing Together.' Recognized for these efforts, the company received the Presidential Commendation for Social Economy Merit in 2021, and in 2022, for its contributions to youth employment through the operation of the 'Sangsang Planet' youth entrepreneurship platform and the 'Sangsang Startup Camp' social venture support program, it was awarded the Presidential Commendation for Job Creation Merit.
