KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae Selected as Outstanding Universal Tourism Facility of 2023 2024.01.08
KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae, a multifaceted cultural and arts space operated by KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in), has been selected as an Outstanding Universal Tourism Facility for 2023 by the Seoul Tourism Organization.

The Seoul Tourism Organization, under the jurisdiction of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, conducted the selection for outstanding universal tourism facilities for the first time in 2023. Outstanding tourism facilities are chosen based on certification criteria for convenience facilities, accessibility, hygiene, parking, and other aspects, aimed at ensuring the tourism rights of individuals classified as tourists with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, etc.

KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae has been recognized as an outstanding universal tourism facility for its efforts in enhancing user convenience and increasing accessibility for tourists with disabilities. The facility is equipped with convenient access routes, elevators, dedicated parking spaces, and accessible toilets for people with disabilities.

In addition, KT&G has been actively involved in raising awareness and improving culture for tourists with disabilities, hosting the art exhibition Over the Rainbow by disabled artists since 2018. Furthermore, KT&G strives to create an environment where tourists with disabilities can enjoy cultural and artistic experiences by incorporating braille in related print materials and providing sign language and subtitles in videos.

A representative of KT&G stated, "We are committed to creating an environment at Sangsangmadang Hongdae where all visitors can enjoy a safe and convenient experience," and added, "In the future, we will continue to improve the convenience for individuals with mobility impairments at Sangsangmadang facilities nationwide."

KT&G Sangsangmadang actively supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides a broad cultural experience to the public. Since its inception with Sangsangmadang Hongdae in 2007, it has expanded to Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, operating as a multifaceted cultural and arts space with over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs annually. As of September 2023, it has surpassed 20 million cumulative visitors.
