KT&G Establishes a Global Production Innovation Hub with the Expansion of the Sin Tanjin NGP Factory

KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) has expanded the Sin Tanjin NGP (electronic cigarette) factory to achieve a "Global Top-tier Leap" and to establish an innovation hub for electronic cigarette production.
On the 1st of this month, a ceremony was held to commemorate the expansion at the Sin Tanjin factory in Daejeon, attended by CEO Baek Bok-in and over 40 employees. With bold growth investments and technological innovations, they pledged to collaborate to nurture the NGP business into a "Global Top-tier Player."
The KT&G Sin Tanjin NGP factory introduced three additional electronic cigarette stick production facilities from the end of last year to this year, resulting in a total of eight facilities. They also established an automated warehouse capable of storing up to 360,000 boxes, setting the focal point for the leap of the NGP business.
In the future, KT&G plans to expand its production innovation hubs, focusing on domestic manufacturing facilities such as Sin Tanjin and Gwangju, to ensure smooth demand response for the rapidly growing NGP business, based on innovative platforms and global partnerships.
Earlier this year, the expansion of the Sin Tanjin NGP factory was part of the growth investment plan announced during the "Future Vision Proclamation" in January. KT&G unveiled a growth strategy focusing on NGP, Global CC (Global Combustibles), and Heated Tobacco as the three core businesses, under the theme of "Global Top-tier Leap." In particular, in the NGP business sector, they plan to increase the revenue share of non-combustible products (NGP, Heated Tobacco, etc.) to over 60% by 2027 through investments and innovation, including securing production hubs.
Previously, in September, KT&G signed an agreement to receive investment support for the construction of a new factory in East Java, Indonesia, which serves as an export preliminary base. In October, they held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory in Kazakhstan, announcing plans to establish a foothold for export advancement in Eurasia.
Following the expansion of the Sin Tanjin NGP factory, KT&G will focus on securing production capacity for the global growth of the electronic cigarette business domestically, while strengthening its competitiveness in direct business competition centered on new factories and local subsidiaries overseas, to achieve its medium to long-term vision.
CEO Baek Bok-in stated, "The Sin Tanjin NGP factory will play a role as a growth engine that enhances the essential competitiveness of the NGP business, which is strengthening its market leadership," and he added, "In the future, we will lead the growth of the NGP business based on innovative technology and advanced global partnerships and will leap to the 'Global Top-tier' through domestic innovative growth investments, including expanding production infrastructure."
