KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) held 'The Debut' on the 8th to present the performance results of the participants of the 6th 'KT&G Sangsang Start-up Camp' which is a youth start-up support program.

‘KT&G Sangsang Startup Camp’ is a social innovation entrepreneur fostering program that selects young entrepreneurs who want to solve social problems through business and provides a total of 14 weeks of startup build-up education. ‘ 'The Debut' is an event that shares the accomplishments of the participants and supports their first starts as entrepreneurs after the entire process is completed. KT&G has selected the participants for the 6th "Sangsang start-up camp' last November and has supported the entire process for them to debut as social innovation entrepreneurs.

The Debut' was held at 'KT&G Sangsang Planet' which was built by KT&G in Seongsu-dong, Seoul as the space dedicated for youth start-up. Pre-selected 8 teams out of the entire teams who completed the program presented their business models and accomplishments, and 5 outstanding teams were selected in the end through a fair review process by social venture related parties on matters including business effectiveness and social impact evaluation. 

KT&G provides various follow-up support for strengthening the competitiveness of the outstanding teams. It has provided the benefit of 1 year free rent at the 'KT&G Sangsang Planet' work space, and it plans to work together for promotion of business items and connection for attracting investments.

Sim Yeong-ah, KT&G Social Contribution Director said 'KT&G is striving continuously for healthy progress of youth start-up ecosystem including operation of 'Sangsang start-up camp' and 'Sangsang Planet'" and "We plan to follow up with various support going forward that can help young people who are the future leaders."

KT&G launched 'Sangsang start-up camp" in 2017 to contribute to creation of jobs for young people. The employment effect created by the operation up to the 6th period reached a total of 799 people, and the accumulated sales of the entrepreneurs approached 21 billion won. In addition, there was an accomplishment of 38 teams entering 'Social enterprise fostering project' of the government. In recognition of this kind of contribution, last year, KT&G has been awarded the president's commendation at the government award ceremony for '2021 Social economy Meritor' hosted by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
