The KT&G Scholarship Foundation is recruiting students for its '2020 Middle and High School Imagination Scholarship' program to support middle and high school students who are struggling with economic difficulties due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This Imagination Scholarship is for middle and high school students in need of academic support. Scholarships will be provided to 100 middle school students in the way of KRW 1 million per person, and 140 high school students in the way of KRW 3 million per person, amounting to a grand total of KRW 520 million.

In addition, learning tools such as tablet PCs will also be provided to support non-face-to-face educational environments such as online classes being conducted by educational authorities due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19.

Teachers will apply directly online for eligible students. Applications can be made via the KT&G Scholarship Foundation website (https://scholarship.ktngtogether.com) from July 6th to July 24th. After receiving documents, the final beneficiaries will be selected through fair examination, and the results will be announced on August 14.

The KT&G Scholarship Foundation is a public interest corporation established in 2008 by KT&G in order to practice the company’s management philosophy of 'A Company that Works Together with the People', and has been continuing its scholarship program for students in need of support. Recently, in order to resolve educational inequality caused by the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation is focusing on providing learning support for low-income students.

To this end, in June, the Foundation provided a total of KRW 750 million in scholarships and provided tablet PCs for 188 low-income college students, and a total of KRW 120 million for the children of 117 small business owners in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, which sustained severe damage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its establishment in 2008, the Foundation has helped more than 5,000 students with its scholarship programs, and has provided more than KRW 30 billion in total educational support.

An official from the KT&G Scholarship Foundation said in a communiqué, "Following the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we decided to provide scholarships to low-income students in the current educational environment where there is an increasing educational gap caused by remote learning. We will continue to provide various educational opportunities focused on helping underprivileged students in the future.”
