717 KT&G Sangsang Madang hosts the exhibition “Short Reading Room” displaying winning works from the “Ten-Line Novel Contest.” 2024.10.03
KT&G Sangsang Madang is hosting an exhibition called "Short Reading Room" at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Daechi Gallery until October 10th, which brings together the finalists and the grand prize winner from the "Ten-Line Novel Contest" aimed at expanding the literary base.

The "Ten-Line Novel Contest" has received enthusiastic responses over the past four years, with over 10,000 participants and approximately 12,000 works submitted. This contest allows everyone, without restrictions on genre or format, to encapsulate their own story within ten lines, providing an open opportunity for all who love literature and serving as a stepping stone for emerging writers.

This "Short Reading Room" exhibition features 40 works that have made it to the finals over the years. Particularly, the grand prize winner of the "4th Ten-Line Novel Contest," author Kim Shiru’s "Unique," will leave a deep impression on visitors through its unique presentation style where sentences cascade like a waterfall. This exhibition is not just a simple display of works but is composed of various programs that allow audience participation and interaction. It includes an experience zone where visitors can try writing their own ten-line novels, a photo zone, and a special event distributing specially made "Ten-Line Novel" notepads in celebration of Hangul Day.

Kim Kang-min, Head of Cultural Contributions at KT&G, stated, “The 'Ten-Line Novel Contest,' which showcased infinite imagination within a limited format, was a time that demonstrated everyone can be a writer. Sangsang Madang will continue to strive to create a cultural and artistic ecosystem where creators and audiences grow together."

Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsang Madang supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides a broad cultural experience to the public. Since the opening of 'Sangsang Madang Hongdae' in 2007, it has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural and artistic reach and the development of regional cultures.  Sangsang Madang attracts approximately 3 million visitors annually and hosts around 3,000 cultural and artistic programs each year.
