As an ‘Enlightened company,’ KT&G
532 KT&G provides congratulatory gifts to employees’ children who enter primary, middle and high schools 2023.03.06
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) delivered CEO message cards as well as congratulatory gifts to 558 children of employees entering primary, middle and high schools.

As part of its family-friendly program "Gahwa-mansaseong" every year, KT&G sponsored an event to celebrate employees' children who enter primary, middle, and high schools. This year the company prepared flower bouquets, stationery sets, and toy piggy banks for the children entering primary schools, as well as gift vouchers to eat out for children entering middle and high schools.

KT&G has been sponsoring the program of "Gahwa-mansaseong" (things at the company work well only if the employee's family is harmonious) since 2017 in order to support the work-life balance of employees. The program has three themes of celebration, support, and care throughout a year, and includes not only employees, but also their families as beneficiaries.

Additionally, KT&G is extending its measures to support childbirth and childcare by increasing the period of parental leave for female employees to a maximum of two years and introducing a system where an employee can take a child care leave immediately after a maternity leave. A "refresh" long-term vacation is granted for every five years of work of each employee, and a family care leave is provided which can be used for up to 10 days per year. A C&C leave for competency development is also granted to help employees find a balance between work and life.

Furthermore, KT&G was selected as a family-friendly company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2015 in recognition of its efforts of actively introducing a family-friendly system and administering it in an exemplary manner. The certification was renewed in 2020.

According to an official at KT&G, "based on the philosophy that 'a company with happy members performs well', KT&G is working hard to create a workplace where employees and their families can be happy together. We will build a corporate culture where the balance may be built between work and families.”
