KT&G prepared cards and flowers containing a congratulatory message from the CEO for 555 children of employees entering elementary, middle, and high school last month, and prepared congratulatory gifts to deliver to children entering elementary school. In particular, congratulatory flowers were purchased from flower farms that have been economically impacted by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in a win-win effect.
This celebration of the children of KT&G employees entering school was held as part of the company's in-house 'Gahwa Mansaseong' program. 'Gahwa Mansaseong', which means 'everything in the company is successful when the family is harmonious', is a family-friendly program that KT&G has operated since 2017 ensure a healthy work-life balance for its employees.
In addition, KT&G supports the stable child rearing of its employees by operating the 'automatic parental leave system' that automatically converts to parental leave after maternity leave, and by extending the period of parental leave to a maximum of two years. The company is operating various leave systems, such as ‘refresh leave’, which grants long-term leave every five years, ‘job change support leave’ for employees who change jobs, and ‘C&C/in-company venture leave’ for employee competency development.
KT&G has been certified once again as an excellent family-friendly company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2020 following 2015 in recognition of its contribution to introducing and operating various family-friendly systems.
An official at KT&G said, "KT&G has been operating a family-friendly system not only for employees but also for their families based on our philosophy that a company with happy members produces good results". He continued, "Going forward, we will lead the field in terms of family-friendly management and strive to ensure a stable balance of work and family life for our employees.”
