367 KT&G dispatched volunteers to Cambodia and built libraries and donated books 2019.07.17

KT&G (CEO, Baek Bok In) dispatched 36 college student overseas volunteers to Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, Southeast Asia, and built libraries and donated books.

Siem Reap, Cambodia is a remote rural area with poor educational environment. Since 2005, KT&G has dispatched overseas volunteer groups for 15 years to build 7 libraries and repair worn-out classrooms in order to improve the educational environment.

In this year's event, which began on July 9, university student volunteers completed a library site, and on the 16th, a library donation ceremony was held to deliver 500 Cambodian books to the school.

In addition, volunteers presented their programs to local students through their talent gifts, such as health hygiene and sports activities, and informed Korean culture through various traditional plays and craft lessons.

KT&G officials said, "The volunteer activity in Cambodia has been conducted 39 times since 2005, and 1100 college students and volunteer groups have participated in this project. This event was born again as KT&G's representative global social contribution activities. In the future, we will extend support to neighboring countries such as Myanmar and Vietnam."

KT&G has also provided medical services to Myanmar, including the provision of tuberculosis screening vehicles, as well as to Cambodia. In addition, KT&G conducted school construction and maintenance and delivered educational equipment. In addition, we have been carrying out 'Sangsang Village' project to improve the poor housing environment in Indonesia since 2014. We are also actively engaged in overseas social contribution activities in various areas such as building a forestry and agricultural center to prevent desertification in Mongolia.
