KT&G to host 'KT & G SKOPF' program to support Korean photographers 2019.05.08

KT&G (CEO, Baek Bok In) will invite public participation for KT&G SKOPF(KT&G Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer's Fellowship) which is Korean Photographers Support Program on KT&G Sangsangmadang website(http://www.sangsangmadang.com) from May 15th to 19th. .


'KT&G SKOPF' is an artist support program that finds and supports potential photographers. Since 2008, we have unearthed a total of 39 artists for 11 years and supported solo exhibitions of 13 final artists and publication of the works In August, he will hold a solo exhibition of Kim Seung Koo, who was selected as the final artist last year.


The 12th “KT&G SKOPF' will present the three artists of the year in June after the first portfolios and the second interviews. The authors of this year will be awarded 10 million won worth of work support and six months of mentoring, respectively, and one finalist will be selected after the public portfolio review in December. KT&G will continue to provide additional support and mentoring worth KRW 40 million to hold the final artist's solo exhibition and publishing the works.


“KT&G SKOPF' has supported the actual growth of the participants through mentoring and production support by a jury composed of experts.


As a result, selected artists have been awarded prestigious photography awards and invited to many photography contests home and abroad, including the Artist of the Year Award presented by the National Art Museum and the Houston Photo Fest, leading the development of Korean photography.


"The purpose of the KT&G’s artist support program is to create a 'ground' for potential artists to demonstrate their capabilities," said Ji Hyo Seok, director of Cultural Contribution Division at KT&G. He added" We will continue to make efforts for the development of culture and art ecosystem by supporting various fields such as performance, movie, and visual art.”
