KT&G(CEO, Baek Bok In) held a ceremony for the construction of 'Khampanae-KT & G School' in Savannakhet Province, Laos in Southeast Asia on 22nd last month.

The 'Khampanae - KT&G School' was built with 10 classrooms and 6 toilets in the Khampanae Village in Savannakhet Province, 345 km south of the capital, Vientiane. It was completed in just eight months of its launch in June last year.

The opening ceremony was attended by Gampuntuphi Savannakhet Vice-Governor, Lingfengshuangthawan, director of education of Savannakhet, and Lee Sang Hak, Director of Sustainability Management of KT&G.

The construction of the school began with the request of the Lao government hoping to build an education infrastructure in a poor educational environment of Savannakhet Province. KT&G donated about 260 million won to the 'Sangsang Fund' last year, and the funds were fully utilized for building the educational facilities in Laos and purchasing educational equipment such as computers and desks.

KT & G's unique social contribution fund, 'Sangsang Fund', is raised by adding the same amount to the amount donated voluntarily by employees.

A KT & G official said, "This project is a result of our employees' continued interest and enthusiasm for overseas social contribution by utilizing the 'Sangsang Fund.'" He said, "We will continue to make active social contributions for the socially underprivileged in various parts of the world."
