KT&G (CEO Bok-in Baek) started its 3rd KT&G Sangsang Startup Camp, a youth startup for social innovation support program.

KT&G SangSang Startup Camp started the youth startup support program to solve the nation-wide youth unemployment problem last year. This 14-week camp for 45 young people looking to launch startups, will providing consultation and education programs as part of the company’s youth support project for free.

KT&G provided a 5D4N boot camp for the candidates at KT&G SangSang Madang Churchmen from Oct 22nd. The camp introduced methodology and team building and the candidates will experience ‘introductory track’ and ‘growth track’ until next January.

The camp starting from October 29th will be composed of customized coaching and professional mentoring by the industry professionals, and business model setup and marketability check programs. Selected teams will be provided with financial support for initial startup, overseas benchmark trip and office rentals after the ‘Demo Day’ presentation next January.

KT&G has supported youth employment project with 3billion won budget since last year. The competition ration for the previous camps were 10:1. SangSang Summit, an open forum for the sustainable development plan for startup ecosystem, which invited around 400 participants.

Jinhan Kim, head of KT&G CSR said, “I have witnessed that young professionals have become social innovated entrepreneurs through the previous two SangSang Startup Camps, which have proved itself with accumulate revenue of KRW 620 million.  KT&G will support to help the creative ideas of the young entrepreneurs with contributing social problem solving and becoming innovative enterprises which will eventually relieve youth unemployment through the 3rd Camp.”
