303 KT&G SangSang Mading to Hold Norman Parkinson, a British Fashion Photographer 2018.09.06

KT&G SangSang-Madang Hongdae gallery will hold the first exhibition of the English fashion photographer Norman Parkinson, ‘Timeless Style’ from September 22 to January 31, 2019.

As a part of the 20th Century Maestro at KT&G SangSang-Madang, this will be the 6th special exhibition after Robert Doisneau in 2014, Raymond Savignac, Jean-Jacques Sempé, Jacques Henri Lartigue, and Quentin Blake

Norman Parkinson is regarded as the photographer who transformed the British fashion magazine with his own style in 1960s when American fashion magazine was leading the trend. His flamboyant style of shooting, which took fashion out of the studio and into the fresh air and real life, captured a spirit of spontaneity that changed the way we look at clothes.

The title of the exhibition Timeless Style originated from the idea that his photos still inspire modern artists even after 50 years. Approximately 150 photos will be exhibited in a fashion studio style exhibition room.

The exhibition will be categorized into Street Photos, Cover & Photo, the British Royal Family and Portrait. Out of studio photos with Parkinson’s artistic talent, fashion magazine photos with Harper’s Bazzar, Vogue, and Queen, photos of celebrity fashion models, honorable photos of the Royal Family, celebrity musicians and actors, and portraits of artists will be exhibited.

Hyoseok ji, director of KT&G CSR said, “KT&G SangSang-Madang, a culture & arts complex has introduced foreign maestro not well-known to Korean audience through the 20th Century Maestro exhibitions. Based on the success of the previous exhibitions, I will try to provide a variety of cultural experience opportunity.”
