KT&G (CEO Bok-In Baek) invites participants for the 12th Great Short Film Festival to reflect the past, present and future of Korean short films.
Anyone with movies 20 minutes or shorter made on or after June 1, 2017 may apply through KT&G Sangsang Madang webpage ( http://www.sangsangmadang.com )) until June 30.
Shortlisted short movies will be shown at ‘Great Short Film Festival’ at KT&G Sangsang Madang Cinema for a whole week from September 13. A total of 10 million Korean won and KT&G Sangsang Madang one-year membership will be awarded to the final winners for best pictures (two winners), best director award, best actor, and audience award.
The 12th KT&G’s Great Short Film Festival, one of a few existing short film festivals in Korea, has encouraged budding filmmakers to introduce their idiosyncratic ideas to the audience through a video that’s 20 minutes long or shorter since 2007.
The winners of KT&G;s Great Short Film Festival, Jung-in Kim’s ‘Cheong’ won the Special Prize from Berlin International Film Festival and Ga-eun Yoon’s ‘Guest’ won the grand prix from 34th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2012.
Hyoseok Ji, director of cultural contribution office at KT&G, said, “The Great Short Film Festival has contributed to the expansion of the demand for domestic short films and has been established as the gateway to becoming a well-known director and actor / actress. The festival is a great opportunity for amateur filmmakers to present their work to the public.
