KT&G recently launched a camp for young people looking to launch startups, providing them with consultation and education programs as part of the company’s youth support project with 30 million won budget. Selected participants held Demo Day to announce their result to social enterprises and investors.

The event was held at Kunsthalle, a culture compex in Nonhyun-dong, Gangnam on January 31. KT&G selected young entrepreneurs and kick-started the “SangSang Startup Camp” to undergo 14 weeks of education including coaching from business mentors and introduction of business systems that they can use when starting their own business.

The company said it planned to support young entrepreneurs of ‘social venture’ to help solve social problems on a business level. Participants’ interest includes urban-rural education gap, companion animal culture, and return after a career-break.

Ten best-performing teams participated in the event and presented their business model and performance to startup experts and venture capitalists. Top 5 teams received 80 million won for prize as well. The event also provided talk-concert and networking session with related persons of social enterprises.

Team will be chosen at the end of the program, based on their performance, to receive opportunities to research overseas cases and financial support for office space. KT&G will continue long-term support for startup founders, offering exclusive spaces for their stable growth.
