275 KT&G to Send College Student Volunteer Team to Cambodia for 15 Consecutive Years 2018.01.15

▶KT&G’s volunteer team to Cambodia will engage in CSR activities until January 27. The team left for Cambodia via Incheon International Airport on the 15th


KT&G will dispatch a volunteer team comprised of 40 college students to Cambodia on an international volunteering mission that is scheduled to end on the 27th.


The volunteering college students who were selected as those who passed their interview by KT&G Welfare Foundation will be sent to Siem Reap Province in northwestern Cambodia to work at elementary schools in rural area.


They will be volunteering in building a library, repairing and painting schools and offering learning support activity. In addition, the team has been preparing “talent donation” on its own taking advantage of each volunteer’s talent to offer Cambodian students various cultural experiences,


Since 2005 KT&G has dispatched a total of 1,060 undergraduate volunteers and employee volunteers to Cambodia on 38 separate missions.


A related person of KT&G said, “KT&G has helped for living environment improvement and educational support for the future of Cambodia. The Company plans to expand its horizon to adjacent countries including Myanmar.”


Furthermore, KT&G has been engaged in medical support activities including tuberculosis diagnosis vehicle in Myanmar.


In Indonesia, the company has carried out a project called “Sangsang Village” to improve living conditions in slum areas since 2014. Last year, KT&G also built a forestry and agriculture education center to train reforestation professionals in a bid to prevent the desertification in Mongolia, involving in a wide range of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities at home and abroad.
