KT&G to Donate the Revenue from SangsangMadang Chuncheon Festival to Low-income Households

December 29, KT&G announced that the Company donated 74 million Korean won, the revenue from SangsangMadang Chuncheon Festival, to the Gangwon office of Community Chest of Korea.

SangsangMadang Chuncheon has provided a variety of culture & art experience opportunity as a culture & art complex to the residents in Gangwon Province and Gyeonggi Province since its establishment in 2014.

Approximately 2,500 audience attended 2017 Sangsang Realization Festival in October to make the festival a representative cultural performance in Chuncheon City. Just like 2016, KT&G decided to donate the whole ticket sales revenue for the low-income households in Chuncheon.

In addition to 37 million won from the tickets sold, KT&G Sangsang Fund added the same amount to make the sum 74 million won. Sangsang Fund is KT&G’s unique corporate & social responsibility fund, in which the company doubles the amount of money its employees voluntarily contribute monthly.

The donation to the Gangwon office of Community Chest of Korea will be allocated to 20 social welfare organizations in Chuncheon City for winter supplies, coal briquette, and facility improvement for local welfare centers.

Hyoseok Ji, director of cultural contribution division, said, “I am happy to donate the revenue from Sangsang Realization Festival, a representative cultural festival in Chuncheon, for the residents in Chuncheon City. This will not be a one-time photo session event. The Company will try to continuously return the revenue from the performance and exhibition of SangsangMadang to the local community.”
