KT&G (CEO Bok-in Baek), a company promoting work-life balanced working environment via family-friendly management, starts ‘When One’s Home is Happy’ program. The company will deliver congratulations cards and gifts prepared by Mr. Baek, to 187 employee’s children entering into a primary school.

‘When one’s home is happy, all goes well’ program for family-friendly management is made of three themes, ‘Invitation, Celebration and Cheering’ throughout the year.

Firstly, ‘Invitation’ program, based on careful consideration for employees and employees’ family members, invites employee’s parents and children to the company to provide diversified events. The events include company site tour and family events at recreational facility. In the first half, new employee’s parents will be invited and ‘remind wedding’ for parents over 60 years old will be prepared in the second half of the year.

Secondly, ‘Congratulations’ will provide gifts for childbirth and school entering. Employees may choose organic baby cloth or naming service for young parents without naming experience. Lastly, ‘Cheering’ program will run communication school for parents with an adolescent boy or girl in order to help them to communicate among family members and to become ‘good parents’. In addition, the company will prepare gifts for employee’s children preparing for college entrance exam.

Last year, KT&G received a positive response from employees, including hand-written cards prepared by children, for giving congratulations card and school supplies for 174 employee’s children entering into a primary school. Mr. Baek also delivered cheering letters and gifts to 235 students preparing college entrance exam in last November.

KT&G took a leading role in introducing three-week ‘refresh leave’ which is given to employees every fifth year anniversary. The Company also took an initiating role in introducing ‘automatic childcare leave system’ which allows employees to enjoy parental leave after mandatory maternity leave.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family provided ‘family-friendly workplace’ certification for KT&G in December 2015. KT&G also obtained ‘leisure-friendly’ certification from Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for active support for work and leisure balance for its employees.

A KT&G official said, “The consensus that work and life balance culture is the competitiveness of a company led us to start these programs. We will continuously endeavor to lead family-friendly management by actively supporting work and family balance, based on diversified supporting system.
