266 KT&G Volunteers for “Cambodia Hope” Program 2017.01.09

KT&G (CEO Baok-in Baek) will dispatch a volunteer activity group to Cambodia until January 17.


The team, made of 28 members, has been selected from volunteers of KT&G Welfare Center and undergraduate volunteer group sponsored by KT&G. The team will carry out volunteer work including building libraries, renovating schools, helping the children with education, and providing personal hygiene class with NGOs on site in Siem Reap in Cambodia.


KT&G has sent a total sum of 970 volunteers who made 35 trips to Cambodia since 2005. The company donated education facilities by building floating preschools on the water and also renovating libraries and shcools.


A KT&G official said, “I wish KT&G’s support over the last ten years would help with economical independence of the people in Cambodia suffering from economic challenge. KT&G will more actively acted for the benefit of international society by globally expanding the area of volunteer activity.


In addition to the activities in Cambodia, KT&G has renovated over 40 houses in economically challenged area via ‘Sangsang Village’ contribution and built Korean language center in Jakarta, which was the first case by a Korean company. Last year, KT&G also established forestry and agriculture education center in Mongolia to train professionals for reforestation by preventing desertification and also dispatched a volunteer group for the restoration of ecological system.
