KT&G(CEO Bok-in Baek) sets out on volunteer activities abroad by dispatching a volunteer group comprised of its employees for ‘Cambodia Hope’ until September 29.

The volunteer group, a total of 22 KT&G employees, were selected with outstanding volunteer experience. Once dispatched to Siem Reap Province in Cambodia, these volunteers will conduct activities in a child care center.

Volunteers will help children with daily activities including taking a bath, doing the laundry and cleaning, etc. They will also provide maintenance for childcare facilities. Children may enjoy Korean culture experience programs by making Hoddoek(rice and sugar-filled Korean pancake) and playing Yunnori and Jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock). School supplies and clothes provided by volunteers will be delivered.

KT&G has sent a total sum of 960 volunteers comprised of its employees and college students, who made 35 trips to Cambodia since 2005. The company has also worked to expand educational facilities including library and schools and the first on-the-water preschool facilities in Cambodia.

A KT&G official said, “Cambodia had suffered from economic challenge after long-lasted civil war. Over the last ten years, KT&G has dispatched volunteer group for living environment improvement and education support for the future of Cambodia.”
